Starting at about the age he could walk, Joel had a great interest in art. As he moved through elementary and junior high school it became clear that this was the educational path meant for him. In 2003, Joel received notable recognition for his work by entering into the California Jr. Duck Stamp competition and was awarded the highest honor of “Best in Show”.
He received formal training in college at Laguna College of Art and Design and later transferred to the Art Center in Pasadena. After schooling Joel took some years away from the paintbrush to pursue other interests. In 2012 he decided to follow another interest, taking an internship as an animal husbandry volunteer at the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. This rekindled a love and passion not just for animals and wildlife but also for nature in art.
Joel’s work will be on display at Moraga Country Club through December 31, 2014.
