Rita Sklar is an award-winning Bay Area artist who studied watercolor in Spain. Her paintings have been juried into numerous local and national shows and collected worldwide. In 2013 she received the “Award of Distinction” from the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Her affection for wildlife is evident and she often chooses species at risk, emphasizing their beauty. Sklar wants to remind us that the diminishing populations not only are a loss to birders but send an urgent warning about the health of our environment. She was a finalist for BBC International Wildlife Artist for both 2011 and 2012.
Rita is a signature member of the California Watercolor Associate, S.F. Women Artists Gallery, Pro Arts, and Oakland Art Association. Her work is currently on display at the Oakland Museum of California. She will be one of the featured artists at Walt Wines in Sonoma beginning July 2015.
